I was so sorry to receive the news that Bernadette had died. We met about 40 years ago when we were both Classics students at Keele. She had the slimmest ankles I have ever seen in a woman! We kept in touch at Christmas all through the years, exchanging news about our cats. Lately we had been in touch more frequently on Facebook. Berni always struck me as a very kind and thoughtful person. She encouraged me when I had cancer last year, and now she has gone first. My deepest sympathy to her family. Fly free, Berni.
